About Me:

Rob Thomas graduated from Pacific Oaks in Pasadena, California with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology -Human Development. He went on to continue at Pacific Oaks, and received his Masters Degree (M.A.) in Marital and Family Therapy. He is a candidate for licensure Board of Behavioral Science (BBS). He is a member in good standing with California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). Mr. Thomas is also a Regional Director for Discovery Behavioral Health - Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program. In addition, Mr. Thomas is the founder and owner of ?just BE you? Life Strategies ~ Coaching/Consulting.

He has seen a wide variety of mental health settings ranging from inpatient and outpatient clinics serving both rural and urban populations, individuals in recovery/intervention, private practice/clinical specialties in (Dual diagnosis/Co-Occurring Disorders, Depression and Anxiety, Sexuality, Relationship issues, Creative self-expression, narcissism, youth and young adult residential treatment facilities, after care, and parent advocate. My theoretical perspectives consist of dual components of his personal/experiential journey combined with his behavioral studies in Human Development, Marital and Family Therapy, Family systems, Life Coaching, as an integrative approach completely tailored on an individual basis per client.

It is my mission to my client's to be your "committed listener" which enables me to better understand the issues we all face day-to-day. By listening for clues that suggest questions some might overlook, it is my goal to find the answer. Maybe it?s within the question. Perhaps the question is one you are not ready to accept. I listen for the clues that present solutions, in turn shedding some light on matters that can sometimes be too daunting to take on alone. To achieve breakthroughs in any facet of your life, you start by accepting and embracing the good and the bad, taking ownership of the victories, the mistakes and the problems of the past, present and future. These are the life experiences that contribute and define who you are. After you have acknowledged your experiences, learn from them. Have the courage to talk with someone with the wisdom to help you listen to another perspective, learn from the experience, take steps to prevent repeating history, and most importantly, move forward with this new found awareness. The future is the greatest gift you have to offer to yourself and the world around you.

I feel very gratified when I have the opportunity to have some impact on someone?s life. I truly believe that inside every individual there are insecurities that stem from childhood, many of which don?t allow us to be whom we are. Behavior is subsequently affected and patterns start settling in. These patterns can have an adverse affect on how we conduct our lives, career, relationships, both friendly friendships and even how we love. So often on the journey of life we get sidetracked from our goals. The value system we attach to ourselves, much less our goals, doesn't always take the forefront and it should. I believe that a healthy BALANCE needs to be established to have control. Within that BALANCE discipline will follow; this is how you can start to prioritize and effectively begin to achieve your goals. Secondly, it is very important to keep the DREAM alive. The DREAM is what fuels us to become successful at accomplishing the goal. Lastly, PASSION speaks to how you feel about what it is you want to do or done while on the journey. Remember to live your life, but what your heart desires.

The objective for all my clients is to deepen their learning, improve their performance and enhance the quality of their lives. The key is having the right attitude. At any given time, whatever the situation, we all have the power to affect change from within. This is never easy. It takes courage, bravery and a commitment to discovering who you are and who you want to be. My personal passion for my work, combined with my empathy for people have lead me to be effective for allowing a comfort level with each of my clients which in turn helps you be who you are free of judgment. Once this is realized, the abundance of good you are able to bring into your life becomes available. Therefore, going back to the basics of just being you and enjoying life sparks a level of energy that is contagious.
